For Lunar New Year, my friends and I dined at Nue Elegantly Vietnamese. It happened to be during their month-long Year of the Dragon 2024 promotion, which for every 202.40 spent, it gave one guest in your party to roll dice for a chance to win great prizes.
For drinks, the other couple enjoyed The Wood Dragon cocktails, which reminded them of a Smoked Old Fashioned, while I enjoyed The Metal (Gold) Dragon, which reminded me of a fancy Lychee Martini. It consisted of Roku gin, Bacardi dragon berry, Soho lychee liquor, lemon, lychee, and aquafaba. It had a foam top and was garnished with a piece of edible gold foil flake.

For food, the other couple had a shellfish allergy and enjoyed the Coconut Curry Risotto and Bo Kho Pappardelle. My fiancé and I shared the Crispy Whole Fish, which consisted of a fried and deboned wild caught fluke topped with scallions, crispy garlic, and lime, served with rolled up vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, lettuce wraps, and pineapple nuoc cham. Since I had a pepper sensitivity, they made an additional mild sweet and sour sauce.

We finished our meal on a sweet note - Yuca Cake with Ice Cream and Tropical Che. Since I had a peanut allergy. we had the desserts without peanuts. Majority of the party loved the Yuca Cake, which consisted of four fried sweet yuca cakes, served with powdered sugar, toasted coconut, and dulce de leche ice cream. I loved how the yuca cakes were sweet, smooth, and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The flavors reminded us of brunch. The Tropical Che consisted of layers of coconut milk with sago and assorted tropical fruit (lychee, mango, and pineapple) topped with a scoop of sorbet. It was a refreshing dessert. It reminded me of Taiwanese bubble tea and sweet soups in Chinese culture.

After paying for the bill, we got a chance to play their game. The animal we picked didn't match the animals on the dices, so we didn't win a big prize, but we walked away with a jar of homemade sate sauce and $20.24 gift card.
